Friday Night After Six : Soaring Free and Breaking the Status Quo

Last Friday, I joined some of my friends to watch a stage play performance.  As we arrived in Meralco theater, a lot of people are already waiting for the show to start.  Most of the people are kids, die hard fans of the show now adapted to a stage musical.  This is not the first time I watch High School Musical on stage.  Last February 23, I watched Ateneo Blue Repertory's adaptation directed by Chari Arespacochaga and starred by the beautiful VJ Karel Marquez as Gabriella Montez and Shark Alonzo as Troy Bolton.  Blue Rep's version is quite fresh because literally this the very first time the popular Disney Original Movie is adopted to theater in Philippines.  Shark and Karel's performance are exceptional and incomparable and the production is well delivered.

Now Stages and Trumphets Playshop and in the direction of the talented Audie Gemora, another adaptation of the musical materialized this time to be played by kid wonders Sam Conception as Troy Bolton and Cheska Ortega as Gabriella Montez.  We all enjoyed the show.   Reminiscing memories of High school life where we are literally turned into high school students again.

After the show, the high bequeathed still dwells on our young hearts.  As we walked towards the car, we are still singing the songs and trying to mimic the dance steps and scenes.   Even our rakista friend also enjoyed the songs and now he is looking for guitar chords so that he can play them with us.

That night is really crazy.  Singing and laughing in the middle of traffic.  One of the happiest and fanatical day I ever have with my friends.  Just like those old days.  I feel we are really soaring high on the skies.  Breaking through the barriers but at the same time accepting who we really are and most important of them all, enjoying life and being happy.

I wish I can turn back time and go back to those days.  But we are already here.  All we can do now is to face what is here and look back for inspiration.
